Study visit to the Institute for Nanoscience and Cryogenics in Grenoble, France

2018-02-12

Natalia Olejnik-Fehér, NaMeS PhD student, paricipated in the study visit at the Institute for Nanoscience and Cryogenics in Grenoble, France. The destination of the visit was Dynamic Nuclear Polarization (DNP) group from this Institute. Said group is a partner institution for her project (project #22: Spectroscopic studies of dynamic surface chemistry of semiconducting nanocrystals). The study visit was aimed to prepare herself both practically and intellectually for her Secondment in Grenoble, starting from April this year. During the visit Natalia Olejnik-Fehér got to know the work conditions she will be having in the Partner Institution as well as she was initially trained in DNP method for enhancement of the solid-state Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (ssNMR) signal, with “hands on” experience. The above mentioned method will be extensively used by herself during the half-year visit for her Secondment. Additionally Natalia took with herself samples of 17O labeled materials she have been working on to be tested. Due to the short term of her visit she wasn’t able to measure them on spot, but the results are expected to come soon. It is of great importance to measure those samples as the results will determine if the assumed methodology is working properly, and will allow to optimize the process of labelling.
