Viknasvarri Ayerdurai was born in Malaysia and completed her undergraduate in analytical and environmental chemistry from UMT. Then, she further her master's degree in material science in Japan. She was awarded Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology  (MEXT), Japanese scholarship to pursue her degree. She is also a recipient of UNESCO Sponsored Fellowships Programme in Engineering and undertake an internship at the Mining University, AGH, Krakow.
