ECAL 2017

2017-09-25

Richard Loeffler, NaMeS PhD student, participated in the European Conference for Artificial Life 2017. The main focus of his participation was to consult on his doctoral project with his co-supervisor, Professor Martin Hanczyc from Trento University, who was chairing a workshop in Living Architecture at the conference. Richard Loeffler had the opportunity to network with some of the around 100 participants at the conference. He took part in some of the very interesting workshops such as "Agency In The Physical Sciences" and "Evolution of Physical Systems (EPS)" or attended the parallel sessions which included such topics as "Complex dynamical systems", "Physical artificial life", "Artificial chemistries and models of cellular dynamics" and "Collective dynamics of swarms". It is worth noting that there were very interesting Keynotes including contributions about the emergence of life by André Brack, Honorary Research Director, CNRS, Center for molecular biophysics, Orleans, France and Swarm engineering across scales: From robots to nanomedicine by Sabine Hauert, University of Bristol, United Kingdom, as well as a very enjoyable social programme, including a visit to a Vineyard.
