The workshop on quadrupolar nuclei solid-state NMR

On the 8th of October in the CNRS’ Conditions Extrêmes et Matériaux : Haute Température et Irradiation (CEMHTI) center Natalia Olejnik-Feher attended the workshop on quadrupolar nuclei solid-state NMR. The meeting was organized by highly trained specialists in that field. The morning was dedicated to the theory of quadrupolar NMR spectroscopy and was split into three lectures: Physical basics of quadrupolar interaction, Advanced Techniques in NMR of quadrupolar nuclei and, Use of DMFit to simulate quadrupolar line shapes. After lunch the "hands-on" part of workshop was held, where participants measured different samples on two high field NMR instruments (750 and 850 MHz). During the spectrometer time we were shown how this particular group is approaching sample analysis from the moment it got to the center to extraction of useful data from it using quadrupolar NMR experiments. During the meeting Natalia was also able to make connections with other students and post-doctoral fellows that can prove useful whilst working in the NMR field in the future.
