Research training programme

IPC has the right to confer doctoral degrees in chemical sciences in the discipline of chemistry. The PhD programme is designed to support preparation of PhD thesis and leads to the award of a doctoral degree.

The PhD fellows will be provided with hands-on training on advanced theoretical and experimental methods, specific to their particular research fields. The research training programme will support implementation of individual Career Development Plan (CDP). CDP will be prepared by a student in cooperation with his/her supervisorat at the beginning of the programme, and will be regularly updated. CDP will take into account personal interests, and long-term goals, possibly merging experience in science & business.

The framework of educational programme is presented below:

Cycle of Basic Physical Chemistry courses:

  1.  Quantum chemistry and spectroscopy
  2.  Thermodynamics
  3.  Kinetics of chemical reactions
  4.  Structure of matter
  5.  Electrochemistry
4 specialised lecture courses
(lectures selection consistent with individual Career Development Plans - CDP)
Lectures on additional subject
(possible options: Philosophy or Economy)
Specialised seminar or conference presentations
(min. 2 presentations)
Doctoral seminars
(4 presentations in total)
Research reports
(3 seasonal reports per year)
Course on grant application writing
Lectures on intellectual property protection and patenting practice
Coaching towards effective career management
Soft skills training
(courses selection consistent with individual CDPs)
